UBS to Reveal Tax Evaders

In one headline, the U.S. just increased tax revenue during a recession…and you can bet it was under the gun from the Obama administration to do just that.

As the linked article states, Swiss Bank (UBS) is going to reveal tax evaders. There are going to be some big names who come out on this one except for possibly those that were paid to let them break the law for so long.

Speaking of Lobbyists.  As I’ve discussed here before, the biggest one of all is John McCain’s former economic adviser, the person who is mainly to blame for the housing crisis as he wrote the Gramm-Leach-Bliley act that repealed the regulation of Wall Street and mortage banking…your favorite UBS lobbyist and mine…Phil Gramm. Did I mention his wife was on the board of Enron? She took the seat there after Enron lobbied her in her previous job on the Commodities Futures Trading Commision…after she, of course, exempted them from regulation with the help of her husband sponsoring the “Enron Loophole” bill…the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.

THIS is how you take back a country…shame the criminals…and take back some of their loot.

Phil Gramm Bio

Wendy Lee Gramm bio

Which one of these Gramms led to the loss of hundreds of billions of dollars?

The answer is both.

Last minute YouTube clips; Barack Obama & John McCain & Truth

This is a pretty good Obama commercial in the form of an old beer ad:

Barackapella…a great rendition of “Yes We Can.”

John McCain vs. John McCain

Nothing better than a little Simpson’s to speak truth about power:

…and for truth TO power, the best of all time:

Political YouTube Viewing – Part II Palin, Obama, McCain

A few more fun clips for those following from near and far:

A fun clip from the genius, Edward Current (if you have a few minutes, take a look at his other works):

John McCain said in his book that he let “ambition get the best of him” when he sold out to South Carolina and pandered to the state about their confederate flag during the 2000 election.  Once a personality trait, always a personality trait:

I posted this previously, but it’s worth seeing again:

Debate Review Part II – Barack Obama vs. John McCain

The debate of a man who is 5-10 percentage points ahead and a man who has resorted to racist style politics didn’t end up too well for the man who is behind.  While McCain again did fine in getting his points across, his points happen to all coincide with current failed policies and his own failed ideas.

The striking points of the debate included the following:

McCain tried to accuse Barack Obama of not talking softly and carrying a big stick because he’d said out loud that he take out Bin Laden even if he (Bin Laden) was in Pakistan.

Barack hit back in saying that yes, he’ll kill Bin Laden if he’s in our sights, but McCain was the unstable person singing about bombing Iran to the tune of a beach boys song…which was not very presidential.  Furthermore, saying…”I’ll get him, I know how to get him…” isn’t a solution nor a plan.

The John McCain campain has spent the past few days trying to depict Barack Obama as some sort of terrorist.  If John really thinks Obama is a terrorist, and John McCain puts “country first,” then how is it possible that he could go through an entire debate not warning the country that Obama the terrorist isn’t the main point of your campain to save us as citizens of the United States of America.

In a country that has nearly been brought to its ruin by lobbyist pushing to deregulate Wall Street, the guy (McCain) whose campaign is run by 60 lobbyists, just lost the election.

John McCain: Napoleonic Complex & a Crook at Heart

The two most important links you’ll ever click about John McCain are below. Please take the time to read one and watch the other.  One is an incredible article that details John being much like Bush in that he was a crappy soldier, but due to his father’s clout, he defied his own stupidity.  The other details that same stupidity in the Senate and his involvement in the 80’s Financial Crisis.  As Joe Biden said, what’s past is prologue…and John’s given us all we need to know about his past.  I guess if we elect John McCain, we could get his THIRD financial scandal?  Considering his chief financial advisor deregulated the current market allowing them to conduct business in a dangerous way, I’d say we could expect it to occur again.

Barack Obama, John McCain, and Sarah Palin Political YouTube Viewing:

Just some light viewing in the sprint to the finish:

First, for a good laugh (or maybe to make you crap your pants), I thought you might like to know where Palin stands on…well…trying to complete a sentence coherently:

…another clip of her interview.  Katie does a good job of sifting through the bullshit and trying to get her to give an answer.  Palin says she can’t answer and will have to find the answers and “Bring ‘em to ya.”  Uh, how about you just haul your ass back to Alaska…we already know the answer, which is why it was being asked.  John isn’t for regulation, he says he’s “fundamentally a deregulator.”

This clip is of David Letterman on top of his game.  John McCain called David an hour before the show after Palin gave the awful interview above.  John told Dave he was going back to heroically save the economy.  Dave caught McCain on the internal CBS feed (that only a show like Letterman’s, also on CBS, would have access to) getting his make up put on to do a live Interview on the nightly news with Katie Couric so he could overshadow his mentally incompetant vice presidential nominee’s interview.  Watch and enjoy.

This clip from Letterman is almost as funny, both from the same week leading up to the first debate.  Bill Clinton was on Letterman, and then Chris Rock came out and was his normal funny self cracking jokes about the Clinton’s and Palin.

This a fun little post debate follow up set to music…so goofy that it’s almost cool:

I’m not sure why it links to a dumb article below talking about McCain being close in polls.  That article is over two weeks old, here’s a link the the latest polls…and it doesn’t look good for John:

Debate Review: Barack Obama vs. John McCain

For the most part, last night’s debate was two men showing they both had a pretty good grasp on foreign policy.  However, when you’re the younger unknown like Barack Obama is, then going toe to toe with the older and supposedly more experienced man, then you’re actually winning.  Furthermore, when the older man has done nothing but plummet in the polls in the last week due to his party (and his chief financial advisor) crashing the economy, then any sort of close debate really means Barack scored a huge victory.

The real defining moment of the debate was McCain desperately wanting to talk about “the surge” and Barack had none of it showing that McCain was actually to blame for our trillion dollar war in Iraq (watch the below clip):

The McCain Palin Lie Continues…

While Keith Olberman cuts checks for every Palin lie, the more astounding lie is hiding this unknown, inexperienced, possibly corrupt, religious radical (and any view of her lack of understanding of anything/everything) from the press.  Say whatever you want about Obama, but the guy has been vetted by the voters for two years now and still holds a lead on McCain.  Palin has done two interviews (if you can call Sean Hannity asking and answering questions for you an interview) and has now gone 24 days without a press conference (less than John McCain’s 40, but he has been around congress since personal computers were invented…not that those thirty years have encouraged him to learn how to use one).

Answer:  Palin and her bridge to nowhere buddy, Ted Stevens (who also thinks the Internet is a series of tubes…and George M. (he doesn’t deserve my respect) Bush and John McCain.  Question:  Who are four people who don’t believe in science and several (including a Presidential candidate who don’t understand what the Internet is).  John, you’ve got to learn Microsoft Windows before you’re allowed to control the WOPR.

Who do McCain, Palin, and CNN think they are fooling?

We have a man running as the republican candidate who has spent a lifetime fighting for deregulation of Wall Street and has hired 60 lobbyists to run his campaign to ensure that will be the case.  In addition, McCain’s top advisor was paid over $30,000.00 per month for 5 years to lobby for deregulation of the mortgage industry (what does $2,000,000 buy these days?).  Then, when the markets collapse, he says that we need MORE regulation.  Mr. McCain, are you aware that your chief economic adviser actual wrote the bill to deregulate the mortgage industry and thus allow Wall Street to buy the risky mortgages and set up the collapse and taxpayer bailout of these companies?  Mr. McCain, are you aware that your chief economic advisor is a lobbyist for one of these Wall Street companies?  Mr. McCain, are you aware that the wife of your chief economic advisor was on the board at Enron while Mr. Gramm fought to deregulate the Energy trading industry allowing that company to collapse?

Mr. McCain, CNN says that you’re very taken with Sarah Palin’s husband and that despite his job as a snowmobile racer and his only having a high school deploma, that he may be a shadow governor due to the support he gives his wife.  Maybe he could be your next chief economic advisor!

CNN….next time a campaign feeds you a fluff story, would you mind trying to hide it a little better?  I actually got a little puke on my shirt after throwing up this bullshit you tried to feed me.  Next time, maybe you could just give me a list of the lies this McCain admin is already spewing and then try to sell their story:

Lie

Truth

Sarah Palin said “thanks but no thanks” for the bridge to nowhere

Said please give me money for the bridge so that oil companies can come drill on federally protected lands because she doesn’t believe in global warming, protecting endangered species, but does believe in hunting wolves from a helicopter.  As Chris Rock says, a black guy kills a dog (Mike Vick) and you go to jail.  White woman kills a wolf from a helicopter, and she’s a hero.  Additionally, Palin backs a new $600 million “Bridge to Nowhere” part II.

Has foreign policy experience because she can see Russia from her doorstep, and has energy policy knowledge.

Actually couldn’t name any of her own experience until John stepped in to tell her she knew about oil.  Palin says that we would be forced into a war with Russia if they attack an allie, so under a Palin administration we’re in World War III as of three months ago.

Welcomes an investigation into her firing of someone who wouldn’t fire her former brother-in-law.

Husband now refuses to testify, lawyers have blocked subpoenas.

Wants an open government.

Changed her work e-mail to a Yahoo account so that it wouldn’t be subject to subpoena’s

Doesn’t believe in earmarks.

Requested $200 million in earmarks just this year.

Palin says she fired the governor’s chef to save money (what a reformer!)

Gave her a different title to do the same job for other Republicans.

Believes abtinence only sex ed does the job of sexual education.

Just had her fifth kid at age 44.  The child was born with Down Syndrome…an attribute 5-10 times more likely to babies born from older mothers (a fact I learned in non-abstinence only sex ed.)  Seventeen year old daughter didn’t learn from mom (or maybe did learn from mom), pregnant with first (debatable) child due to lack of birth control.

Financial Markets Tumble; McCain Adviser is to Blame

McCain has called his chief economic adviser (and UBS lobbyist) one of the smartest people he knows, but he also happens to be the guy who deregulated Wall Street to allow it to drive the market and buy up the risky mortgages that have ruined the economy.  He also deregulated the energy markets which benefitted Enron while his wife was on the board of directors there.  Phil Gramm’s advice to John McCain…continue to deregulate, and John has pushed this very idea.  However, on a day when the markets are tumbling, John, who’s more and more becoming the master of deception rather than the straight talk express, is slamming the regulators to be like Obama.  How convenient.

Three old guys who know how to do favors for friends, and wreck the economy (McCain, Gramm, Cheney).

Republicans Turn Election Into a Joke – Prey on the Gullible

Many people have focused on John McCain’s putting a woman on the ticket in an attempt to obtain disillusioned Hillary Clinton supporters.  However, the true motive behind the appointment was the selection by the Christian right someone to the ticket who wants to push creationism in the classroom, does not believe in global warming, and has no interest in protecting Alaska’s lands and is very interested in praying for the $30 billion pipeline for Alaska.  The fact that Sarah Palin is a naive former beauty queen an TV sports anchor just makes it even more difficult to have an actual debate without having others say you’re being condescending to the poor republican.

The truth of the matter is that neither Republican on the ticket has much brain power whatsoever, and will obviously be the puppets in the same game we’ve been living over and over.  If John McCain truly thought and wanted Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman, then how could he be forced to put Palin on the ticket unless he will also be controlled by Big Oil, Big War, and Big Religion in the future.

Unfortunately, it has become obvious that no matter how awful things become in this country due to its corrupt leaders, those who blindly believe in a false religion will also continue to vote for those same leaders out of hope that their religious beliefs will also be taught in our schools similar to those in the middle east.

Conclusion:  The only way to put an end to the stranglehold big corporations have on society is to put an end to the religion that allows those corporations to stay in power by those who vote blindly for their leaders as the believe blindly in a holy ghost in the sky.

Gather the strength to question your own belief and free your own mind along with yourself from being a slave to the corporations of this country.  Watch the below clips that are hilarious and enlightening at the same time.

Long but worth every second (well, actually you can skip past the first three or four minutes):

God Has Spoken, Republicans Get the Rain They Wanted

James Dobson, republican and Christian right activist prayed for rain to wash out the Democratic outdoor convention in Denver.  Well, God has spoken and Denver was beautiful, but the Republicans may have to consider postponing some of their convention due to a hurricane in the gulf.

Conclusion?  Either God doesn’t care about politcal conventions in America, doesn’t like Republicans, or is a figment of human thought created over 200 times in seperate religions and definitions to create conforming behavior (long but terrific video below) and an assload of money for the person selling it to the believers in question.  All are likely options.  That’s not to say God isn’t still cheering for Kurt Warner to help him win the Super Bowl and to help me win my fantasy football league.  Go Kurt!!

Hurricane Gustav will serve as a reminder to America to the priorities of Republicans in power, who upon the very same day (August 29th, 2005) of Hurrican Katrina crashing into New Orleans, were not in crisis mode, but instead Bush celebrated John McCain’s birthday in Arizona before giving a speach at a country club.  As Marie Antoinette said:  “Let them eat cake.”  She just left out…and watch their fellow citizens die.

Which of these pictures are most likely the result of James Dobson’s prayers?  The answer is none. (except for maybe that slightly/mostly gay but stirringly beautiful painting.  If it’s on the wall, it must be true.)

Barack is the Leader of the Future

Barack simply just gave the greatest speech of anyone currently alive in this country’s lifetime.  At a time when the Republicans have become the whores to their Big Oil pimp, Barack simply ripped the Republican party and John McCain to shreds.

Items he touched on:

  • Big Oil Influence
  • Unnecessary War
  • Unaffordable Healthcare
  • Education
  • Tax cuts for the super rich and corporations
  • Renewable Energy
  • The Constitution
  • Reality
  • Science
  • Morality
  • Equal Rights
  • Wasted money in government
  • Truth to power
  • Letting a city drown in front of our eyes
  • Country First
  • Benefits for Veterans
  • Change

The country is hungry for change…and Barack just spelled it out in the most clear of terms.  If you’re ready to jump on board, now is the time.  Donate or Volunteer now!!

Partisan Media Outlets Implode

I’ve been writing about it for months (here & here & here & here).  Fox (Faux) News started a trend of full on bias and lies that has ruined any semblance of respectable mainstream media, and the first sign of implosion is upon us.

I’ve written about how the airwaves have been adding rebublican commentators right and left.  They stay low in the grass until times like this come upon us.  Then they pounce; guys like former Republican Joe Scarborough pretending to be an unbiased centrist for several years so that he can return to true Republican form.  After going on for minutes about McCain and his resurgence in the polls, Keith Olbermann said, “Jesus Joe, why don’t you get a shovel…” implying that he was shoveling a lot of bullshit.  Joe is a simpleminded, highly insecure man who is unable to have a real debate, so he is obviously really hurting now.  David Schuster, a fine reporter…but obviously Independent to Democrat, asked Joe why it was okay for McCain to ridicule Barack for setting a timetable for withdrawal if Joe himself was okay with it and it was actually being done by Bush now.  “Joe, go ahead and call him John McCain wrong if you disagree with him,” Shuster said.  Joe Replies, “What?  Am I on crossfire here?”  Uh, yes Joe, you’re a former Republican Congressman who’s weiseled his way onto a show to badmouth the opposition and now refuse to say that you disagree with McCain.  Instead of having a debate about why it was wrong for Joe’s party to belittle the timeline idea, Joe goes nuts to avoid the debate.  At least everyone knows what Fixed News is doing…Joe Scarborough is a joke. (see the video here)

MSNBC is obviously fracturing internally with more openly biased (pro Democrat) reporters like Keith Olberman, tired of pretenders like Joe, having internal disagreements with the old school journalists like Tom Brokaw who want “balanced” reporting.  Unfortunately, what obviously hasn’t been working is the balance part.  Where was Brokaw when the administration was drumming up false intelligence for war?  Where was Brokaw for the Downing Street Memos?  Where was Brokaw reporting on secret prisons and torture?  Where was Brokaw when the Constitution was raped and the government was allowed to spy on its citizens without a warrant that has been necessary since Nixon broke the law?

The nightly news has gone the way of print media:  outdated, lacking in actual reporting, and slow.  Both are dying a quick death with funding being cut daily, and it appears we’re left with 24 hour cable news for television reporting.  My guess is Nancy Grace is prepping for a new kidnap story as we speak.

Sadly to say, the American public is left to sort through the muck and determine what is actually news.  Hopefully, forums such as this one will help bring relevant Info to the surface.
