Stand on My Shoulders and Tell Me What You See

Hillary wins Texas!! (oh wait…no she didn’t)…

In the media’s lust to continue competing with American Idol for advertising dollars, they’ve succeeded in keeping the Democratic race going by prematurely declaring a victory for Hillary in Texas. Problem is, she’s not going to have the most delegates. What decides the winners of these elections? Delegates.

This isn’t the first time the media has gone down this path. Some may remember all media outlets in 2000 calling the election early for Bush in Florida when he actually lost the election (until the Supreme Court stepped in).

On to 2008, where Barack “lost” New Hampshire after Hillary’s crying episode. Delegate count? Clinton – 9 Obama – 9. Yep, quite the comeback for Hillary after being up by 30 points in the polls.

Nevada, Hillary threatens to sue because she didn’t like the caucus process, but then she “won” more votes, so she dropped that rhetoric. Delegate count? Clinton – 12 Obama – 13. Huh? That doesn’t seem like a win to me.

Texas, Hillary scored a “huge” victory by winning the Primary and likely picking up 1-4 (yes, that is correct) delegates. Problem is, the caucus is still being counted and will fall to Obama, with him picking up 5-7 delegates and will be the actual winner in Texas, by several delegates.

By the way, Hillary is threatening to sue the Texas caucus process. Oh, that’s right…you already knew that.

UPDATE: CNN calls the Texas Caucus for Obama.
